Ema StoianSenior Postgraduate, Master of Arts – Film Directing, Beijing Film Academy

Ema A. Stoian (03.03.1986) is a young Romanian film director and the first Romanian student to pursue film studies in China. Her areas of studies include transnational cinemas, theories of globalisation, culture translation/culture conversation and Sino-Romanian-language cinemas.

She graduated with a BA in Film Directing from Film University of Bucharest, “”Faculty of Cinema and TV”” in 2009, earned a Master in Communication and PR (SNSPA) and was granted a post-graduate degree from “Carol I” National University of Defence on a dissertation entitled, “Re-establishing human values through film and mass-media –A dimension of the National Security Status”. Since 2010, Ema has been the recipient of a five years full scholarship at Beijing Film Academy, granted by both of the governments, including two years of intensive Chinese language courses, and three years of Master of Arts, Senior Post-Graduate, Film Directing Program (in Chinese).

She has experience in production of feature films and in writing and directing short films and documentaries. She is Founder and President of LSRS China, International League of Romanian Students Abroad since december 2010, Co-ordinator for ”Culture” Expertise Group -’Romania Juna Forum”, August 2011, and a C.A.E.S.A.R member.

Ema has also served as a committee member for the China-Eastern Europe Film Promotion Project (CentEast),also has been part of BJIFF(Beijing International Film Festival) 2014, and brings with her a stellar reputation in optimising the relationships of Sino-Romanian Film Cooperation and future co-productions.
