Alexandru Cosmin ButeicăPresident, CAESAR Foundation

Alexandru Cosmin Buteica has 12+ years of professional experience in international development. Since 2013 he is working for an International Financial Institution, supporting the Environment, Natural Resources and Blue Economy and Water units for Europe and Central Asia (ECA), focusing on environment, climate change and water agendas. He has played a central role in several technical assistance programs, analytics and knowledge products and investment lending operations across the ECA region. Prior to this, he worked in the corporate banking industry in Amsterdam, focusing on sustainability and wealth management.

He holds an MScBA in Global Business and Stakeholder Management, from Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), Erasmus University, with a focus on international development and environmental sustainability. He also studied in Santiago at the MBA program of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and traveled to Denmark, UAE and China to conduct research on water and environmental sustainability good practices. He obtained a BSc in Economics from the Faculty of Cybernetics, Statistics and Computer Science of the Bucharest Academy of Economic Sciences.

Cosmin is currently the President of the C.A.E.S.A.R. Foundation and has previously led and served in the boards of several NGOs, managing national and international projects, focusing on youth education, social inclusion, entrepreneurship and environmental issues. He was designated an Atlantic Dialogues Emerging Leader Fellow by the German Marshall Fund of the United States and the Policy Center for the New South and an Aspen Young Leaders Fellow by Aspen Institute Romania.
