Ana GăinaruPhD Candidate, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Ana Gainaru is currently a Phd candidate in Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her research interests are parallel and distributed computing on HPC systems with a special focus on resilience/fault tolerance. She (co-)authored 14 journal and conference papers published in top HPC conferences. Her publications related to failure prediction have been cited more than 100 times and she has served on a panel of experts discussing the future of fault tolerance on Exascale systems at the most prestigious HPC conference in the US. She has collaborated with academic researchers from around the worls (Tokyo Tech, ENS in Lyon, Barcelona Supercomputer Center) and US national laboratories (ANL, NCSA) and worked in collaboration with industry partners (IBM, Cray). Moreover, her tools and techniques have been integrated in the software stack of one of the most powerful supercomputer in the US. Ana strongly believes that diversity is the key ingredient behind creating a robust community that can think outside the box and is capable of innovation. For this reason, she is actively involved in different international organizations and graduate committees.
