After 3 years of training in obstetrics and gynaecology she emigrated to New Zealand where she completed a MHSc (with First Class Honours) in Fetal Physiology at the Liggins Institute, University of Auckland. Her papers were published in prestigious journals like Endocrinology and American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
From 2007 she has been working as an obstetric and gynaecology registrar in Australian hospitals. Simona’s appointment at the prestigious Royal Women’s Hospital allowed her to participate in research and teaching activities, as well as to continue her clinical activities in obstetrics and gynaecology. In 2012 she was awarded the Advanced Diploma of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. From 2014 she has been working as a GP obstetrician in training in Hervey Bay, Queensland.
